The Bitterness

The Bitterness

A Poem by Ben Taylor

I remember the sweet summer air --
I could press my eyelashes together and pretend it was you
Breathing softly against my shoulder.
But with this frost and bitter weather,
Closed eyes only complicates the loneliness.
Shivering, I hide behind my eyelids and wish
I had someone warm to huddle against.
