Scarfs and Sweaters

Scarfs and Sweaters

A Poem by Ben Taylor

Transient seasons scamper in circles,
Azure summer blues slipping beneath the dirt
to escape the over crowding of raucous reds and yellows.
My emotions trail in tow,
Spinning in circular patterns as the seasons regress and evanesce.
It's good to see the thermometers shrink before brisk winds,
to see leaves blush and congregate in gutters and curb sides;
the summer sun does nothing but outline my dirty shadow,
and I'm ready to forget the piles of sweltering s**t I've stepped in
and hide the bruises on my ribs beneath scarfs and sweaters.

I love this poem. I had to read twice then one more time and realized that its not only for a poem for the season but also forgetting or rather putting the messed part behind or simply hiding it and concentrate on the future
