As Life Again ChangesA Poem by Ben TaylorThe flakes of copacetic brightness, Consummately faceted and amassed into landscape-veiling drifts, Glitter faintly as they fade into the mud. The constructs formed by the snow lose their form to the heat, Sinking into ambiguous forms Of muddled decomposition. The stifling stagnation of life's more oppressive season Melts the lung-clearing frigidity of contentment From the soil around me. My hair becomes plastered to my scalp; I wipe the sweat from my eyes irascibly. With Winter's gusts whispering away from me, I watch the grey snow-laden cloud-scapes March their way imperiously into the past. Glancing forwards, I see nothing but blistering sun-- I suppose there are clouds somewhere in the horizon, But as the sun's fingernails abrade my skin to a gentle pink I cannot help but wish I did not have to endure this season of Sweltering difficulty.
