HesitateA Poem by Ben Taylor
Cotton-puff clouds meander across the scape of pale blue sky,
All unseeable above this midnight breeze. "I'm certainly uncertain," She said to him. The clock whittles away seconds until it shows 2:38, The sun resolutely clinging to the far side of the horizon. The wind swallows her words before they are comprehended; When he collapses he is therefore surprised at her lack of surprise. The stars are too faint to betray the emotion of either party. As a result, nothing is felt. The seconds become needles: Prodding the sun towards awakening, Injecting realization into his flaccid veins, Puncturing her retreating heels, Leaving a trail of bloodstained sunlight. I drag a finger through the rust-red residue and pause when I feel the dream begin to dissipate. © 2012 Ben TaylorAuthor's Note
