The leftover maid

The leftover maid

A Poem by Daniel Sutheran

"I am the leftover maid.
With all dirt and rotten and filth be said,
I am still the leftover maid.

I was the withstanding maid.
With a foul mouth atop his foul-thought head,
I am still the withstanding maid.

I was the mechanic maid.
With a broom and words and doom in hands, red,
I am still the mechanic maid.

I was the crying maid.
With his upset and his hatred in our old bed,
I am still the crying maid.

I was the missing maid,
With my face never shown in his company, he'd dread,
I am still the missing maid.

I am the leftover maid.
With four-and-twenty women to share my sigh...
I am a leftover maid."
