Slam the DoorA Poem by caitlinthis is my attempt at a prose poemthe slamming of doors is a usual way to ignore it all; impending war leaks from the cracks in the ceiling, roaring feelings that lack the expressions we have displayed on the walls, lessons as tall as the tower and as indecipherable as the storm that dances around said the tower. i look at us in the doorknob; we're so small, insignificant, but we all look so big-headed. it's funny, really, how your perspective can change. but it won't. i stare at myself now in our door knobs, wondering why i couldn't perserve what was before; the status quo. you will stare at your screen, or into your bottles and cans, where everything becomes abundantly clear; but you will only see yourself. i could fear. i could kill myself. but that wouldn't actually help. all i can do is slam the door. all you can do is slam the door. but neither of us can never, and will never slam it shut. © 2025 caitlin |
