Song of the Dead

Song of the Dead

A Story by Daydreamer12

A woman walked into a nursery. Her daughter had been crying. She got a bottle and had given it to her daughter. Went over to the window and closed it. The clouds were dark and the wind was blowing hard. A bad omen. She walked over to her daughter. There was one thing she loved about her daughter and that was that she had crystal-blue eyes, she adored her daughters eyes. She laid a hand on her daughter’s head, and as soon as she touched her daughter, she felt as if a gust of wind had ran straight through her. The pain was unbearable; she shut her eyes and fell to the floor. When she opened her eyes she screamed and looked at her daughter in horror. She hesitated before she graved her daughter and ran out the door.
She ran up a hill, through a gate and through a garden. She came to a stop in front of the door of a beautiful manor. She banged on the door and yelled, “ Let me in! Let me in!” the door opened and a man who was bald but had a beard and had a big round belly come out. “Madam Halowel! What are you doing here so late at night? Its nearly one in the morning.” Said the man. “I am sorry to disturb you, but…” She stop she did not know how to say this.  “I…I had another…um…” she took a deep breath.” I had another prediction” the mans face turned chalk white. Madam Halowel was the village seer, and she had predicted many things and was well respected in the village. Whenever she predicted something at night she would always wait until morning to tell him. There was only one other time she came in the middle of the night. This was bad. “Please c-come in” he stuttered. Madam Halowel told him what she had seen and what she wanted to do. The man looked at the baby girl in her arms. The girl seemed to be sleeping. He had seen the girl before; she had the most beautiful eyes. Crystal blue, almond shaped eyes. He took a deep breath and he said in a voice so small it seemed to belong to a mouse “I agree. I will take care of her.”

                    15 years later…

A young girl ran down a marble hallway. She wore an elegant pale blue dress with matching shoes. A woman was running after her. The woman had on a black dress and black shoes. The woman yelled after the girl “ Ms.Dunlap get back here now!!!!” The girl just let out a laugh and said, ”If you want me back, come get me!” The girl turned a corner and saw a door at the end of the hallway. “ Yes!” she muttered under her breath. The door opened and a man carrying books came through the door. The girl didn’t have time to stop, so the man and the girl crashed. The man fell to the floor and the books scattered in every direction, but the girl was still standing. The man yelled “ MS. DUNLAP!!!!” “Sorry” cried the girl. The girl didn’t stop to help the man. She turned a slid through the door.
She was now in the middle of a beautiful garden; it seemed to reach out for miles. There were flowers and a fountain in the middle of it all. She looked back at the door. The door had beautiful craftsmanship and it belonged to a gorgeous manor. It seemed to have three floors. The girl turned back to the garden and ran toward what looked like a labyrinth. She tuned the corner that led to the labyrinth and from the corner looked out into the middle of the garden. In the middle was the woman. She looked very puzzled and angry. “Ha!” snickered the girl, “she’ll never find me” She turned to go into the labyrinth, but she hit something solid and fell to the floor. She looked up to see what she had hit and her face turned as white as snow. Standing over her was a man who was bald, but had a beard and a big round belly.
“F-Father” She stuttered. The man, who had always had a cheerful expression on his face, now had an angry one instead. “I have had it!” yelled the man, “What is this I hear about you skipping your lessons, and running over Mr. White!” “Y-You don’t understand,” said the girl who was clearly frightened. “I have told you time…” “There you are!”
It was the woman “Your going back to your lesson…” She had just noticed the man. “Oh!” said the woman, “Mayor Dunlap! I didn’t see you there.” “Yes, well I was just asking Angelina why she was skipping her lessons?” Said Mayor Dunlap “I wasn’t skipping my lessons!” screeched Angelina who was getting off the floor. “Then why aren’t you inside!” said Mayor Dunlap in an impatient voice. “Well, I thought it would be fun to have my lessons outside for a change?” replied Angelina. “Then why were you running a way from me!” yelled the woman.” Well…uh…um…Oh fine! I was skipping my lessons! But why do I have to learn how to play the piano!” screamed Angelina. “Because it will teach you to be a respectable young lady,” roared Mayor Dunlap. “Well why can’t I go to a school! I want to be with around other kids!” cried Angelina. “What do you mean be around other kids?” said Mayor Dunlap “There are kids here. There’s Jane, Max….” “But they’re the servants kids!” yelled Angelina “ They don’t count!” “Fine” said Mayor Dunlap who looked tired, “If I think about letting you go to a school, will you go back to your lessons?” “Oh! Father! Thank you!” said Angelina as she hugged him. ”Yes. Yes. Now go back to your lessons” Angelina walked a way back to the house with the woman.
Once they were back in the house, Angelina apologized “Mrs. White I’m sorry I gave you the slip.” “Yes. Well, you better not do it again” said Mrs. White “I won’t because I’m going to a real school!” replied Angelina. “Um…Ms. Dunlap…You really don’t think your father is actually going to let you go to a school?” asked Mrs. White. “Why would he not let me?” asked a curious Angelina. Her father always gave her what she wanted, why would he not give to her now? “Well…um…” Angelina clearly noticed that Mrs. White was hesitating “ Uh…never mind,” said Mrs. White. Angelina wanted to know what it was Mrs. White was hesitating about, but she knew better. Mrs. White was the kind of woman who didn’t care whose child you were, she would hit you if you where acting rude. Angelina has had her own beatings too. Mrs. White had always had her gray-white hair up in a bun. She had pale skin and brown eyes. Everyone in the manor knew not to mess with her.
After her lessons she walked out into the garden heading for her rose garden. She loved the rose garden. Her father had filled it with roses; they had gotten from their trip to Rome, when she was six. It really wasn’t a garden; it was more like a green house filled with roses. It was the size of the homes the people in the village lived in. it was white and had windows of fine glass, just like the only on the manor. The wood had cravings of roses on it. Her father had made it for her; he had told her it was unique just like her. She opened the door and walked inside.
A girl was inside watering the roses. She had on a pale blue dress with matching shoes. She had light blond hair, bright green eyes and light skin. She was also very beautiful. “Hey!” said Angelina. The girl clearly hadn’t noticed Angelina and had jumped which concluded in her tipping the bucket of water over. “Oh No!” cried the girl. She picked up the bucket, “ I’m so sorry Ms. Dun…” “Jane!” yelled Angelina, “How many times do I have to tell you! Call me Angelina!” “Oh, sorry Angelina.” Said Jane “ It’s just that grandma calls you Ms. Dunlap and I just got use to it.” “Yes, well your grandmother is the only one who can call me that” said Angelina as she leaned against a table.
Mrs. White is Jane’s grandmother. Jane’s full name is Jane R. White. The “r” stands for Rosalina, her mother’s name. Jane had never met her mother; she had left Jane and her father when Jane was two years old, realizing that she didn’t want children. Then Jane’s father died when she was six years old. Her grandmother and grandfather are her only living relatives. She came to the manor after her father had died, that’s when Angelina and Jane met.
“Hey where’s max?’ asked Angelina. Jane looked around. “ I don’t know? He was here a minute ago?” said Jane. Then a big chunk of dirt came flying through the air and it hit Jane on top of the head. “Ahhh!!!” screamed Jane. They both looked up and saw a boy hanging upside down. He was wearing a big stupid grin on his face, which was covered in dirt. Actually the was covered in dirt from head to toe. He had spiky blond hair and blue eyes. “Get down from there!” yelled Angelina. The boy was just laughing at Jane and hadn’t heard anything. “MAX!!!” screamed Jane “ Get down from there or I’m telling grandma!” The boy quickly got down, knowing that Jane would do it. “Why do you have to be such a snitch.” Bellowed max. Jane glared at max and max glared back at her.
Max was Jane’s brother. The year Jane had came to the manor max did too. A woman had come to the manor looking for Jane; Mrs. White had come to talk to her. The woman said she wanted to see Jane but Mrs. white said that she would not let her. In the end the woman brought out a baby boy and Mrs. white said she would talk care of him as long as the woman never came back.
Angelina looked at max he was covered in so much dirt. She got a wet towel from the shed and walked up to him. Jane and him were still fighting. “Max?” sighed Angelina. Max looked up at her. Angelina took the wet towel and started to wipe his face clean. “You shouldn’t go into the dirt you got that?” said Angelina. “Okay,” babbled max.
Max was ten years old and he had a huge crush on Angelina. He only listened to two people and that was Angelina and Mrs. white. Max told everyone he liked Angelina, but Angelina still didn’t know. Angelina saw max as more of a little brother. She always looked after him. Ever since he got here she looked after him. When she first saw him she thought he was the cutest thing she had ever seen.
“There you go.” Said Angelina, “your all squeaky clean.” Max smiled at her “Thanks Angelina!” replied max. “Oh! God! I think I’m going to puke!” yelled Jane. “Jane can you please act like a lady!” roared Max “Angelina is a respectable lady, and yet she’s friends with you! She could be a friend with any other girl! I bet they would all act like a lady around her to prove they’re her friends! But you! You act like a peasant around her and that’s what you are! A PEASANT!”
Jane was shocked; she looked at max like he had just sprout horns. Even Angelina stared; she had never seen Max yell like that. “ Um…max…” began Angelina. “Why you little brat!” yelled Jane. Max ran and Jane ran after him. Angelina ran after them. God! Why do they always fight? I wish they could be like other brothers and sisters and just get along ,thought Angelina.
Angelina lay on her bed. She was tired; she had spent the whole afternoon trying to calm max and Jane down. Jane had chased max and Angelina had chased Jane. The chase had ended at the pond in the garden. Jane had chased max up a tree. Max had thrown a branch at Jane and Jane had ducked. Which resulted in it hitting Angelina and Angelina falling into the pond.
Now Angelina was tired, sore, and wet. Max and Jane had apologized, but she had just yelled at them and told them to leave her alone. She hadn’t seen them since. She felt awfully bad about yelling at them. She wanted to apologize, but she couldn’t find them. She got and headed towards the door, determined to find them and apologized. But the door opened as she reached out to grasp it.
Her father came into the room. He looked as if he had spent the whole afternoon running the Sahara desert. “Father!” exclaimed Angelina “ you look dreadful!” “ Oh…don’t worry about me, darling” said Mayor Dunlap “ I came here for another reason.” I wonder what is the reason father has come into my room for? Thought Angelina.
“ Angelina I have thought about it for a while and I have decided something” said Mayor Dunlap with a wide grin on his face. Can it be? Has father thought about letting me go to a school? And is he allowing me to go? All these questions where inside her head and they all wanted to be answered. And as if Mayor Dunlap could read her mind he said, “ Yes Angie, I have allowed you.”
What happen next you can’t describe, all that you can say is that Angelina had an explosion of emotions. “Oh! F-Father! D-Do you r-really m-mean it?” stuttered Angelina from excitement. “Yes, you will be going to a school with Jane and max.” he replied. “Really! Oh! I have to go tell them!” she said and with that she kiss her father on the cheek and ran off to find Jane and max.
Angelina ran down the hall. Her expensive shoes clattering against the marble floor. Oh! Where are they! She thought. She turns the corner of the hall and saw Mrs. white. Mrs. White must know where they are? “Mrs. White!’ yelled Angelina as she ran towards the old woman.
“Angelina! Why are you making so much noise! I have told you time and time again no yelling or running in the hall” said Mrs. white. “I know,” panted Angelina “ but I’m looking for Jane and max.” “Oh! They’re in their rooms, but why are you looking for them?” asked Mrs.white “Oh! Father, is allowing me to go to a school!” squealed Angelina. Mrs. whites face went pale. “Is something the matter?” asked Angelina “ you look dreadful!” “No, No, No, I am fine. Now off you go.” Replied Mrs. white “Ok. Uh…Bye.” Said Angelina and she ran off to fine Max and Jane.
Angelina walked back to her room after telling max and Jane. They had been excited and had promise to show her everything when school started. Angelina had never been so happy in her life. She was head to her father’s room to thank him again. When she got to his room she heard voices from inside. She knew it was rude to walk in on a conversation, so she have to wait until they where down.
She leaned against the wall and waited. She heard a creak and turn to see if they where done. They of course weren’t, the door had just opened from the wind, she guessed. She started to close the door when something caught her ear. It was Mrs. whites voice that said it.
“You really aren’t actually going to let her go to school?” asked Mrs. White. “Christine, please I don’t want to talk about It.,” replied Mayor Dunlap. “ Sir, I’m sorry but you shouldn’t let her go to that school.” Cried Mrs. White “Everyone in it knows about her and her mother. You do remember what they did to her mother when they found out. The only reason Angelina isn’t seeing the same fate as her mother is because you’re protecting you. But sir you can’t protect her forever, I thought that the village would never hurt Madam Halowel, but they did. They murdered her right where the school stands now.”
Angelina sat there, in complete shock. So many things where going through her head. My mother was murdered right where the school is! Everyone knows? What is that about? What do they know? What is it that made them kill my mother? Thought Angelina. Tears where rolling down Angelina’s face. She stood up and ran to her room.
Days had gone by since hearing about her mother. Angelina told no one about what she had heard. She pretended that she had never heard it. Then the first day of school came. She should been excited and happy, but she wasn’t. She didn’t want to go to the place where her mother had been killed.
“Oh! I’m going to show you everything!” squealed Jane as they walked to school. “ Hey, Angelina can you eat lunch with me?” asked Max. “ Of course she won’t!” replied Jane, “She’s not going to eat with you and your creepy friends!” Angelina smiled and said to max “ Of course I will.” Angelina was happy, even though she was going to place where she didn’t want to go to; at least she was going with her friends.
“ Good Morning! I’m Ms.Villma, and I will be one of your teachers.” Said Ms.Villma. Ms.Villma was Angelina Band Teacher. Angelina had seen a lot of teachers and been in a lot of classrooms, this was her favorite.

The first paragraphs are filled with such mystery. A mystery that will cause a reader to want to continue reading more. I do believe that there are people who have visions and the visions can be very accurate. I find this story quite intriguing from the first couple of paragraphs. Many words in this story are very fantasy filled and full of lively description.
