I'll Keep My Foot inA Poem by Donald Colenever give up
I’m trying to fit in
And I don’t always do so well
For the world’s not really my cup of tea
It’s not so hard to tell
Still I keep my foot my in
As I let you guide my way
My fear not in coming to you
It’s more that I have to stay
I know that You understand
It’s them of whom I’m not so sure
But to open up somehow
Nothing remains so clear
And I only try to fit the pieces
And only as they come to me
How can I even begin to share?
What’s so hard for me to see?
I try to stay in the game
With so little that I can
Each time I share just a little more
Even though it’s not my plan
So now I see what he goes though
My little son of mine
For only to me I realize
The little ways you’re trying
And how you keep your foot in
No matter what may be
And I see now so much the part of you
That is the part of me
And I recognize how I am looking
To the Father that I have inside
And I notice how we look together
And all the tears we cry
And I know where they come from
For we have the same soft heart
And I know the pain this world brings
Didn’t see you felt it too
Because I just looked from my view
I don’t know how to do it either
I’ve by trying all along
To find the same corner you’re looking for
Just to somehow belong
As I look to my Father
For where I would fit in
At least we’ll look together
And that is how we’ll win
And you’ll see me keep my foot in
As you mean so much to me
If we don’t fit here we’ll fit there
As long as you are with me
Daddy
