Recognition of fearA Poem by Donald Colehow fear can paralyze a bond
You could be so much to me
Were you not so far
You could be a dream to me
Or maybe you just are
I love the time you give me
It leaves me wanting more
The time we get to spend together
Is time I do adore!
You bring to me a happiness!
Not often would I share
And just to have you in my world
I see me start to care
For the little things you give to me
The ways I make you mine
To share a friendship such as this
The feelings that I find
I try to build a bridge to you
Not an easy thing to do
For a bridge is never built by one
Surely must be built by two
And thoughts that cross the miles
The miles that keep us apart
Still I try to open me
To see you in my heart
Surely all this cannot be real
For silly would I be
For the things I see in you
Could never really be?
And how to know from so far
As to let them even reside
For your words have been spoken
Telling me they would hide
Yet how could one ever really know
The future not ours to tell
Although dreams only come to be
If we act on them as well
What in your heart would only hide?
To risk not be set free
So a path remains not walked at all
For it’s just what we won’t see
Nothing left to chance
With no pain to grow
Remaining safe behind our fear
Of just what we choose not to know
