God, Lend Me a Hand

God, Lend Me a Hand

A Poem by Donald Cole

I try to be a part of You
I do the best I can
I know I’m looking for so much more
God, lend me a hand
I know where I am going
Just not how to get to You
So my path seems to wander
To find one who can show me what to do
I try to feel your presence
But am I really here
Lord I hear You calling
And I know that you are somewhere near
It’s just so hard to know You
Unless I’m inside out
And how am I to grow with you
When I’m shadowed by my doubt
My fear would want to keep me
From all this that I know
And I know my fear would leave me
In times that I would grow
And so Lord I am asking
You to walk me through my pain
Father I humbly ask you
To let me feel the rain
The rain that would only cleanse me
And bring me to be the man
Let me walk in Your will
God, lend me a hand

It doesn't get any more real than this. You've bundled it all up here Donald.
