I'll Know

This is a poem of feeling love without falling in love.

 

In the time I've spent with you

You've painted a picture for me

And though it's only me painting

This is the picture I see

The painting would be of you and I

And it is only a dream you know

And love has many levels

And many ways to grow

The painting you have shown me

I find I just won't know

For you share your world with someone else

So it is a love I just won't show

Except that what I know now

Is the love that I will find

And I know what it will feel like

For this you've painted in my mind

I've felt all these feelings,

And the feelings I'm growing through

When I find someone in my life that way

I know she'll be a lot like you

You've painted me my dream

And shown me how good it will feel

And I'll continue dreaming on

Until I find she's real

It hurts a little that it can't be you

In my dream I'll see

Still your beauty that I've felt

I know I'll feel when she walks up to me

For when she walks into my life

I'll know again what I feel for you

For in her I'll feel what you've shown me I'll feel

And then I'll know my love come true.
