If Your Lips Were Wine

A friends status gave me the idea for the poem...

If your lips were wine

I would savor your sensual flavor,

letting it tease my tongue

until I felt the intoxication

put my heartaches to bed.

I’ve had many bad buzzes

that left me lying in gutters

bleeding from the falls.

It is what I get

for loving the hard liquors,

I just never knew how invigorating

a soft chardonnay could be

still letting me think clearly for myself.

I can take you all in without wanting

to hang my head; instead wanting more.

I know sometimes I can be hard to swallow

but I promise to never choke the essence

that makes you sparkle.

So please kiss me long and slow

cause getting drunk on you

sobers me up to the magic of love.

I liked the mirrored idea of love, lust, and alcohol in this beautiful poem. I greatly enjoyed this one and was left with the taste of wine in my mouth just from the beautiful descriptivness that you used to incorporate the five senses in this short and sweet write.
