Welcome To The Wildlife

You know me always sugar coating things... oh and I am never sarcastic :)

 

All these steel cages

have turned a proud menagerie

into a cheap matinee.

“Don’t feed the animals” signs

have become obsolete

to this anemic wildlife.

The tiger's stripes

have turned into rusted badges

cause his bite has become as dangerous

as a papercut, just with less blood dripping.

The king of the jungle

is reduced to a joker in the King’s court

while the monkeys have been demoted

to signing with the birds.

Speaking of birds

check out the endangered bald eagle

boldly on display without a mate,

The Government's solution to a

high priority problem.

Does it leave any doubt

as to why this concrete jungle called America

has become as overpriced zoo?

Clever .... I have been to many zoos ... But don't care to see anything in captivity .. especially the young.. and the elderly ..

Poignant write , great wit love the last two lines, most countries have their problems , war mongering political corruption , xenophobia . We certainly belong in a zoo !

[Coyote Poetry]

Old world is different. Will send 150,000 soldier to Afghanistan to protect what?? Will leave three United States citizens unprotected and no-one know why? One in four people are hungry in the land of milk and honey. Big companies hire part time only. I don't know what is going on. I hope the madness gets under control. Ain't much left for our children. I enjoyed the poem. Made me think this evening. Thank you for the outstanding poem.

AN overpriced zoo ;-) And since the stripes belong to the tiger, there should be an apostrophe before the 's'...just saying :-p And, not for nothing, but where I lived in Alaska, it was lousy with eagles. They were removed from the endangered species list in 2007. Again, just saying. A little research goes a long way.

Nice bit of social commentary, though, if you like that kind of thing xD
