I was watching CNN's Anthony Bourdain, where he had traveled to Myanmar (formally Burma) where they were under a super repressive military junta for 40 something years, until they started to let their people breathe a little, just 2 years ago. The people looked like they had a huge weight lifted off their shoulders, chatting up Bourdain, smiling for the camera. People using cell phones for the first time and journalists, talking about how they couldn't believe they were no longer censored. Even our President toured the Country just last year, further pressuring the regime to loosen its grip around these people's throats, they even held elections. These people couldn't contain their joy, freedom. Can't take it for granted. Keep writing, Dale. Write about anything you want...

You are right about freedom not being taken for granted... unfortunately we still do it quite often.
I like the use of "free" in this; I choose to see this as the underlying theme. It is amazing how much emotion can be packed into a few short lines. Well done.
You have summed the total of how important it is for us to be able to write with freedom - may free speech ever reign supreme in our country!
Thanks to all our our service men and women who have given us this liberty, and to you for honoring them in this way!!
It's better to be dead and cool than alive and uncool
