The Power Of Being Left Behind

The Power Of Being Left Behind

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

In line four yes I did intend to say death of night instead on dead of night for the purpose of the poem.

"

Burning trash barrels

Line the streets

To guide those left behind

In the death of night.

Cold asphalts serves

Exposed flesh well

As unintentional martyrs

Cross the black sea.

Throwing pebbles at

Scary sounds in the dark

Is a blatant double standard.

Chaos becomes God

When everyone worships

Self preservation.

Strength in numbers

Builds up the spiritual guidance

That will lead you

The newest promise land

And show the cowards

That left you behind

That you are stronger than they.

Sounds like an apocalypse … dark, but I see a ray of light at the end… Hurry back Dear Friend

This poetry brings to my mind of the darkness of a self-serving world, the death of goodness and the suffering of the undeserving innocents. It made me sad, yet appreciative of the courage needed to survive in such a world.

High thinking Dale, I am touched to the core.

Yes you are so correct... thanks for the review.
This is encouraging and shows clearly whose side you are on; on the side of your friends and of those you know, of those you are close to, very nicely penned!

Thank you very much.
This has a religious tone to it and I enjoyed. I like the message that was said.

Amen to that.
It is so much easier to be strong as a "we" instead of just an "I"... but so few want to stand together anymore... A dark write, with a sliver of hopefulness at the end... great write here, Dale.

A dark write that makes me stop and think about how much has changed over the years. How different people are and the times. Interesting piece Cowboy.

Thank you, appreciate you thoughts.
Very powerful and impressive, particularly the lines 'throwing pebbles at scary sounds in the dark', struck with me.

I learnt in first year economics: the pursuit of one’s self interest…will in itself promote the interests of society in general. Which is ridiculous because the rich are getting richer, the poor are getting poorer and compassion is seen as weakness. Everyone is being left behind…alone and no one seems to realise that coming together brings life, love…the light back to the people! We’re all just silly fools I suppose …
“Throwing pebbles at
Scary sounds in the dark
Is a blatant double standard.”
Loved that! Absolutely wonderful poem Dale!

Thank you for the review and sharing that knowledge.
Such overwhelming darkness seems to swallow the light at times. You create such emotional instability here, and breathe flames out over the landscape of our time.
