The Truth About Consequences

The Truth About Consequences

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

I was talking to a friend the other day about how being hurt by love can make you hesitate to try again. That lead to this poem.

"

SIlver charms turn to bullets

At the sight of love

Coming onto view.

She knows its bite

All to well.

The red sea

Of her feelings

Has turned into flowing lava.

Many guys have lost

Their souls in the fire

Trying to light

The right flame.

But it will take a real man

With the patience

To cross the broken bridge

And chip away at the stone

Built around her heart.

Hopefully he will find her in time,

Before her castle of protection

Turns to an emotional tomb.

Thank you very much.
Awesome beginning! The poem is a gentle, beautiful reminder of what a broken heart does to us sometimes. The poem superbly underlines the need for perseverance and sensitivity on the part of the man to win her over.

I loved the conclusion you gave it!

This one really makes me think of my reaction to a recent occurance and I see how I am allowing this reaction to color my thoughts, and give rise to some old pains and refections, " made me take a look from the outside , and I was amazed at how raw that emotion still is. Thank you for writing this wonderful poem Dale.

It's so hard to let love in again, once burned. You make a good point about that becoming like a tomb - I have known people who do seem like a part of themselves has died. This is really well crafted, Dale.

Yeah its pretty good say:) your very welcome:)
After heartbreak, many put up a wall around their hearts. It is a protection device. I think as many men as women do this actually. It takes a caring and compassionate person to win back the trust and gain entrance to the heart after that. How beautifully you have expressed this. Lydi**
