House Of MirrorsA Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)Step
right up, Step right in To
the one place That
will confirm; and deny your illusions. Choose your poison… They
all have no purpose Except
to the human psyche"
You
can become short and wide Or
tall an thin, no matter which one You
decide to alter your body You’ll
never be satisfied.
Every
mirror in this house Has
an unique way Of reflecting your image; Everyone
a novelty that will wear off (In the blink of an eye) Like
face paint after Halloween; A birthday party; or football game…
You
can look wavy like the ocean; Pretending
to feel as free Or stretched out being fun Like playdoh in a child’s hands;
But
it won’t change the shape Of
your heart and mind" Or
the thoughts and emotions That mold them… Help them metaphorically grow.
Eventually
you’ll need to go home And
face the real you; Or
truth be told The you that you want to be, To see, To believe in. Just
remembering- Your
image reflected doesn’t reflect your soul. © 2014 The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)Reviews
