A Familiar Darkness

A Familiar Darkness

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

A reborn shadow

Speaks in tongues

Leaving the voice of reason

To re-evaluate the price

Of Silence in its golden state.

The dark entity

Slips through iron bars

In hopes of escaping

The fate of a homestead cemetery

A second time around;

Hope is breathing fire

Trying to thaw its icy heart

In so allowing the feeling

Back into transparent fingertips;

For when hanging

By a thread

It will know when

The end is near.

This shadow knows

A fall into the abyss

Will go on and on

Passing through a familiar hell.

Without a soul to break its fall…

This darkened déjà vu

Has become a repeated penance.

Thank you very much.
I couldn't help but think of Dante's Inferno except it is here on earth:

This shadow knows
A fall into the abyss
Will go on and on
Passing through a familiar hell.
Without a soul to break its fall…

Every time i read your work i am left with a gaping jaw! This is such a step inside the dark corners of a soul, the last stanza is phenomenal...

A fall into the abyss
Will go on and on
passing through a familiar hell.

Feel that line to my core.... delightfully dazed by this this piece!
