Is this thing on?

It is hard to tell

Cause deafness is not

Just a disability;

Sometimes a voluntary arrogance.

How can you expect

To see the whole truth

Without turning on all the lights?

Stumbling over one misplaced fact

Can cause you to fall

And break other’s trust

Or your own integrity.

That kind of mess

May be swept under the rug,

But will always be a hazardous condition

That could eventually hurt

Innocent loved ones.

Rita pretty much expressed my exact thoughts when reading this....

like Oedipus thought he could ignore the oracle and change the outcome...deafness becomes selective hearing becomes arrogance becomes darkness, lights off...don't want to lift up the rug...

that is definitely hazardous...to one's emotional and mental health.
