Handyman For Your Heart

Can I be direct with you, metaphorically speaking.

Love is the solid ground of Earth,

It is those who misuse the land

That causes fault lines

In something that should be

Perfectly beautiful.

 

I know you’ve felt the rumble

Of betrayal more than once

From misguided forces

That don’t appreciate nature;

Taking its toll on your house of love.

 

So I am handing you my card:

 

       Dale Deadmond

       Hopeless romantic handyman

       With my number here

 

Please feel free

To make that call

When you are ready

To repair the damage

And live in a home

To be proud of,

That will make you happy.

 

For I know first hand

How much it hurts

To live in a place

With broken beams

That crushed your dreams.

 

All I want is that special client

That I can spend a lifetime

Of giving my services to

And utilizing my skills,

Who better than you?

 

I will start by filling the cracks

In the foundation

With unconditional affection,

Then strengthen the inner walls

That support the ceiling of your heart

By being a pillar

Of loyalty and respect.

 

Next comes the privilege

Of maintaining your happiness

By providing your home

With enough food of faith

To keep the soul fed,

And treats of passion

To satisfy your sexual desires.

 

No need to decide now,

For it is the most important decision

You can make;

Just know my phone

Will be on 24/7

Cause my shop will never be closed

For a customer as amazing as you.

Loved the metaphors you used throughout this poem. You had me chuckling at the card too, lol what a witty idea. You really have made quite an amazing remodling blueprint for a heart that seems like it is a fixer upper. I really enjoyed this poem, great work.

I enjoyed the write Dale.
Men need to be willing to work hard on relationships. So do women, but men have a special role to fill in working things out. Our society doesn't fix anything anymore. If it seems broken, don't even try to fix it, just toss it out and get a new one. A better, new and improved, easier to use, less miles, version will be the answer.
We need to all be Mr. fixits...
On a humorous note, "When in doubt, "caulk" it. Caulk it good!"
