A Sublimely Melancholy Wall

A Sublimely Melancholy Wall

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

I feel a lot like

The comedy and tragedy masks

Smashed together,

Lying in pieces

Mixed together on the floor.

If I were a movie

I’d be the cowboy

Riding off into the sunset

With the girl,

While a meteor the size of Jupiter

Hurls towards Earth.

If you listen real close

I am that sappy love ballad

That gets drowned out

By a metal song

About destruction.

I imagine that if I were a poem

That I would be the love child

From the minds of Silverstein

And Edgar Allen Poe.

There are so many times I feel like

My heart is walking into a wall

Built with bricks of contradiction.

not sure on the silverstein part he is my favorite poet
been since a child he does children's rhyming poetry I have
2 of his books and he only did children's poems he was read
to me in 3rd grade I grew up on him.

This sounded like Edger Allen Poe this
Stanza's line the most and it is my favorite.

But you sound more like Edger Allen Poe to me
here in this little write.

and you've done some good Dr. Seuss
even though he only did children's books also.

Thank you for sharing this insightful piece.

Bleesing to you my friend.
Well, your poems certainly do sound like a mixture of Poe and Silverstein. I just didn't realize it before.
