Day In, Day Out(Sewing My Life Together)
A Poem by
The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
They weave together
Making a blanket
Of memories,
Some of the stitching
Strong enough
To stand the test of time,
Other parts frayed
To the point
Where the strings
Are not durable enough
To hold the image steady.
As the tapestry
Gets bigger
Some of the squares
Seem to blend
Into one antique pattern.
Every section represents
How I sewed the seeds of
love
Or reaped what I sewed,
Either way
This blanket
Covers my whole life.
The day God decides
To remove it from
My soul
To reveal my wings
And the light from
My halo,
I hope my blanket is large
enough
To keep all my loved ones
warm
On those long, cold nights

Well deserved, this one came from your heart, plain and simple...
When I read the title I knew this would grip my heart. You know I adore the way your heart spills to page. With all the love you have I have no doubt that the blanket is large enough for all those that you love..xo Excellent as always my friend..xo

Thank you so very much wild one.
This is really a thoughtful write from the heart, well written and conveyed succinctly.

Thank you so kindly sir.
Heartwarming, and I agree with Jacob, comforting. I also like the word play using "sewed" rather than "sowed." Clever!

Thank you Jennie, glad you caught that, I was waiting for someone to tell me I spelled it wrong.

But it's actually appropriate, eh?

what a giving thought, a comforting thought...to be able to give even after we are gone...to be that blanket for others...
nice

Thank you kindly sir… I think we all should leave our wisdom and love for others to share.
I really like this. It is a clear painting of life as the good, the bad, and the ugly all in one. One thing-- did you mean gods, God's, or God?

I meant God, how did I do that. LOL
Our lives are a lot like an old country, patchwork quilt, Rock And Roll Cowboy, I think. We weave together memories, experiences of loss, love, laughter and life as we go. As you so eloquently stated in your lovely poem, some stand the tests of time, while others get worn, fuzzied and frayed over the course of a lifetime. Yet all are important to us, and all add to the unique pattern which is solely our own.
Well done, and excellent free verse.

It was my pleasure.:)
That seems to be life--a patchwork quilt, with all our happiness, sorrow, love, anger.
