Well, Dale, there is quite a bit of "cracking" going on in this little verse, and I promise not to make any wise "cracks" about old age, cracking backs and stiff necks. I have absolutely no room to talk when it pertains to those things.
However, I did "crack" up briefly (yes, I know I promised, but I simply couldn't help myself!) in the beginning...and then came those last three lines, and I sensed true heartache in those words. This short, brief poem is a paradox of emotions.
