My Cross To Bare

My Cross To Bare

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

That stained glass cross

Adds much needed color

To my foggy sacred ground,

But it don’t stop those glowing eyes

From watching the part of me

That will live forever.

Now the decision haunts me,

Whether to weigh down

What lies deep down inside me

With a stone

That defines my time on Earth

And allows my tired bones to rest forever…

Or,

Allow my spirit to breathe naturally

Like mother nature intended

And risk allowing demons

To dig up the part of me

That should never be unearthed…

Until I do,

My legacy will remain in

An imaginary purgatory.

I love the play on words -- cross to bare instead of bear. Do we bare that cross for all the world to see, and what are the consequences.

Why thank you so much, glad you caught that meaning of my word selection.
Oh. no contest for me demons any day even by not choosing you still choose them as most live in unconciousness. Not deciding is just a semantical thing. I like the riddle possed here though. Fear of the unknown.

Well no hope, no fear.

Thankyou

You make a very good point indeed, whether we want them or not that still dwell within us. Thank yo.. read more
Good piece here cowboy. Some decisions are tough to make and take time, but that feeling of being in limbo is hard to bear. Nice job with this one.
