A Season To Believe

A Season To Believe

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

You can bathe my skin,

Polish my heart,

But you will never cleanse my soul

By showering it with forgiveness.

For thou cannot

Understand my sins

So far below heaven

Earth is great

For walking on solid ground,

But too damn close to hell’s roof,

Where the devil

Could overhear my weaknesses

And use them against me

At my funeral.

So I will bury my sins alone,

I only ask you pray with me

That they turn into seeds of hope,

Otherwise my death

Will never bloom in spring.

Sounds like the narrator is struggling with guilt and lacking forgiveness of the self. Weaknesses can be scary.

Yes it can be scary… you may be right about the narrator… thank you.
This is a great way to take a deep look inside ourselves and come to terms with our sins.

Thank you Ana, I try to make the ending the climax of all my poetry.
So interesting. Only we can redeem ourselves in the end. At least, that is my take away.

That is a great take on it. Thank you.
Crikey mate, I don't know if I've ever enjoyed a poem more. I love the spiritual aspect of the poem, mixed with the emotions of Man. Nice Job!

Intriguing, a strong write. Well done.

Thank you so much, somehow I knew you'd appreciate it.
A deeply spiritual poem here, Dale; I feel like I have glimpsed your soul.

For thou cannot
Understand my sins
So far below heaven...

Nor should any person dare to delve into the sins of another...

Very wise words Rita, thank you for sharing your thoughts.
I like the honest tone to the poem and I understand the reason for the poetry.
"So I will bury my sins alone,
I only ask you pray with me
That they turn into seeds of hope,
Otherwise my death
Will never bloom in spring."
I have a similar poem. We will pray for our father and our children will pray for us. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry my friend.
