Purgatory State Penitentiary

Purgatory State Penitentiary

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Like sardines in a can,

We pack it in

As we try to make our way

To that place of saving grace…

But when push comes to shove

It is best to practice patiences,

Or you’ll lose your place

And fall to the end of the line

Till the end of time…

Being caught between

Heaven and hell

Is premeditated homicide

To the soul,

And that is a crime of the heart

That carries a life sentence

In the Purgatory State Penitentiary.

Thank you so very much.
Everything in its place and everything at the right time...too eager to shove our way forward sometimes...it seems xo

I believe you are correct, thank you hon for sharing your insight.
First of all let me say I love visiting your profile and how you have it set up.Though I don't believe in the in between s else your lukewarm and Jesus will spew us out of his mouth,he'd rather us be hot or cold.An electric light doesn't almost turn on it lights or it don't.Balance is the key in life, you either live or you die, because just because we breathe does not mean we live death of the mind if you choose. But I agree that our choice in life determines that we walk in purgatory while breathing and the judge will judge us when the jury comes in.We often live our life between the lines straddling the fence if you will.Very good analogy of life my friend you are definitely on one side or the other my friend.

your quite welcome
I like this a lot Dale. yes, patients.. when rushing occurs so do mistakes..yes and the end of the line for sure..but if we let things happen and be still in that moment with them, we get there exactly when we are meant to and there is a calmness about letting that happen. At least that is what I took away from this. This poem leaves much to ponder and exactly what I needed to read. Thank you.

Thank you for the review Tiny Dancer and sharing your thoughts and wisdom.
I too like the metaphor of falling to the end of the line...I'm contemplating the meaning of "being caught between heaven and hell." There are many ways we can do this, I think. Another profound and well articulated write, Cowboy!

My type of poetry. Honest and direct thoughts my friend.
"Being caught between
Heaven and hell
Is premeditated homicide
To the soul,"
Caught in the middle of heaven and hell. A bad place to be. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

You are welcome my friend. I enjoy your words and thoughts.
you might end up in limbo and not get to either heaven or hell....that is probably the worst.
don't want to fall to the end of the line....really like the metaphor here, Dale.
I read the one line as "It is best to practice patience" ---is that what you meant there?

crimes of the heart always carry life sentences.
