Why Does The Raven Mock The Mockingbird?

Why Does The Raven Mock The Mockingbird?

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Why does the raven mock the mockingbird?

For literature will tell us why.

The raven is a staple

In a poem by Poe,

While the mockingbird has no baring

In the novel with its name in the title.

So the mockingbird can dress in black

Like the raven in the night,

But it will never be in the written word

Forevermore.

So why does the raven mock the mockingbird?

The answer is in the books.

well, it does have baring, you see, it's a metaphorical bearing. Like the raven (I thinks) represents Poes impending death, or fear of it and to kill a mocking bird is akin to hurting/killing a child, something that only exists to bring us love and joy, to hurt a child has no meaningful purpose in this world.

Thank you for sharing your interesting insight.
I just read To Kill A Mockingbird recently for the upteenth time and I think the raven's voice with its rasping caw and tap tap tapping is jealous of the mockingbird who, as Miss Maudie says, "They sing their hearts out for us," while I believe a raven would only feast on our hearts and fears. They must mock what they actually covet. The raven may be forever more but it will never be admired.

Wow, that is some interesting insight... thank you for sharing :)
can't believe i missed this....a Poe lover, good for the raven...and to Kill a Mockingbird?
why, because it mocks the raven undeservedly? because it failed to be a literary character with leverage.

the mockingbird mocks, the Raven actually does...tap tap tap.

Well said good sir... thank you for sharing your thoughts.
I enjoyed this tale. I wanted to read more. The raven is a bit a predator. Mockingbird less dangerous. Thank you my friend for sharing your words and thoughts.

You are welcome...... :)
There are many tidbits of wisdom in books if we will just take the time to seek them out! I like the analogy you make with the raven and the mockingbird! The raven is forevermore because Poe made it so, and the mockingbird just can't be like it!
Good thoughts!!
