The Valley Of Death

The Valley Of Death

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

As I walk through a wall of nocturnal flames

I am transported to a land so barren

Even cockroaches could not survive.

My journey is taking an eternity

Because my pride holds my hand as we walk side by side.

There is no relief in this land of

Six hundred and sixty-six degrees.

My resolve was singed by the time I reached the city

Of the living corpses only to find they are afraid of me…

Because I am different,

         Because I have a heartbeat.

Exposed and burnt like everything else inside me

It still gives me the power to be king.

I reluctant rule these names without faces

Like a Broadway director overseeing rehearsals of a play,

Until the sunshine curtain finally rises and I can spotlight

The mercy from what was lost yesterday.

Thank you again. Glad you like it.
Many thought-provoking ideas on your well-penned journey thru life's obstacles. One of those well-crafted lines that packs a punch: "My journey is taking an eternity because my pride holds my hand as we walk side by side." Sometimes it's hard to tell if we're walking on earth or in hell, but in the end, you shine a light to help us see that there must be a better way (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
