chapter 6A Chapter by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)When I was finally strong enough to walk around safely I got in tough with the manager of the hardware store I worked at before my stroke. My first day back was exhilarating. I was able to do most of what I did before my stroke. I put away the merchandise, cleaned and straightened the shelves. Swept the floor, and most importantly gave great customer service. I even got a project to get the automotive shelves cleaned. unfortunately I wasn’t able to carry heavy objects. I did pick up a five gallon bucket of paint, but that was my limit. I also couldn’t climb ladders or reach the merchandise on the shelves over my head. I couldn’t even tie my smock. so I bought a cloth belt to keep it closed. I now have to wear pull on shoes because I can’t tie the laces because my left hand mechanics is not great. I can no longer wear cowboy boots because my ankle won’t bend enough to slip it on. Basically my entire left side is messed up. I have told people I was blessed two reasons that day. First because it started, or I wouldn’t be here. Second, because it affected my left side. Since I am right handed I have at least one good arm and hand. After I returned to work I was there for about six months before they let me go. Unfortunately there were two thing there that were very important. One, load concrete or sand into cars, Two, Refill propane tanks. I was released in October of 2021, and to this day still looking for a gob. It is almost four years now since I was employed. It has been beyond aggravating and heart breaking. But I will continue to look. © 2025 The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE) |
