My view on a proposition that passed yesterday in my state.
You know many say that yesterday America took a big step forward on an historic election day and I agree.Unfortunately California the state I call home took two steps back.
On our ballot was proposition 8 which was to make same sex marriage illegal again.I in my naïve wisdom really thought we were past this type of prejudice because to my surprise the measure passed.
Now I know many say that it hurt the sanctity of marriage.I am sorry but if you feel your marriage is less because to people of the same sex can do it then you don’t get the real meaning behind the institution.Your marriage should be about you and your significant other end of story and not who else is legalized to do it.To tell the truth there are worse kinds of marriages that taint the institution like those who marry to stay in the country…love should not have boundaries.
If I was still married or get married again it would have still meant the same to me for love is all that matters.
Yeap America might have taken a step forward but California sure took two steps back in my opinion.
Before anyone asked no I am not Gay but my brother is and I know many wonderful people who are. We need to get past prejudice whether it be race color religion or sexual orientation and realize we are all human and bleed red.

this is very nice writing ,how it made thought a lot,oh yes we can never judge others to their color or their believes
we need to accept them more and more,we need to love them even more,so much hatred i see everywhere
that i am ready to accept all kinds all believes just to add if a little more love, its enough, the world has gone through a lot
it needs more understanding ,forgiving,it needs more peace more love ,never discrimination how ugly it is
to tell someone you do not belong ,who are we to judge..
in my Arab society like in my country we are mostly white and some tanned skin, but we have dark people from other Arab countries their origin go back to Africa ,i never one day
thought of them as different so as every body else ,i really wonder when i hear these things ,its the person and how he behaves and how smart and how much good he adds to society this is what counts here, and this is how it should be,i liked this writing a lot as i like any writing that calls for love and understanding
among all humans, how beautiful the world will look if we see that for real one day,its like a dream and i like to dream, wonderful
less because to people of the same sex ( I think you meant to say TWO here?)
Great ideas you have put forth here. Yes I agree the enternal debate on who should be able to marry and who should not based on their sexual prefference, color or religion is a tiresome one indeed. I wonder if it will ever go away and be put into the shredder where this type of thinking deserves.
The number one reason people get married is to have someone to care for them at an elderly or weakened state. It is not a sexist idea, but genetically and scientifically men are proven to fall to illness far more likely then women, thus the concept of men working wage jobs while women tending homeliness, if only to ensure "fairness" when the weakened state comes (Still sexist, but that's just the bluntness of it).
The idea of people marrying by love is, well, the dumbest concept. People started doing that because of pop-culture. Sure, people had done it in the past, but still with the idea stated above as prominent. If statistics count, it is clear that idea is completely retarded.
As for Gay Marriage; it's just an equality issue. The church does have a right to stick its nose in it, only because that orthodox is what founded the legal system in the red, white and brainwashed.
I could care less for orthodoxy, or conservative issues being the base of any nation. In all sincerity I hate everything about the world, just trying to fill ya' in a bit. Posting self-righteous pieces is no different then the yellow journalism saying Gay marriage is wrong. If you feel strong in opinion, and it's a current affair, then it is in all sincerity the same bullshit as everything else.
Dale, you know how I feel about this issue. At least, I think you know...
So much hatred exists in this World, showing its disgusting face in all forms...violence, abuse, neglect, intolerance, vicious gossip... We, as humans, have so many more serious issues issues that plague society.
- love is love -
Period.
When two people discover love, it matters not what form it takes... It is a gift to be held sacred and is without boundaries.
I applaud you for writing this piece. It's unfortunate that California, as you said, took two steps back.
Hopefully, issues such as this will eventually lead to resolution.
if you are happy and in love ... then you should be able to be married... no one should be able to tell you otherwise... the thing is that religion gets i the way of it all and honestly the only person that you have to worry about is our Maker...
Dale, I completely agree with you. While I think hisotrically this election brought out the best in our nation, unfortunately, there were also some downsides. Honestly, I was astounded that the law passed in California! Then, I remembered that there are a lot of rural areas in central and northern California, which might be why? Mostly, it's just a lot of neo-con propaganda, which hopefully, will be shot down at the next turn. Although there were a few minor setbacks, I think in totallity, the outcome was extremely positive. :)
Thanks Dale, I was crying by the end. It is nice to know that we do have straight allies out there. Especially as NYS moves toward a Democratic Senate and hoping to pass the Marriage Equality Bill here next year, and a Governor who supports us. We may have come a long way, but that doesn't mean we don't have a long way to go.
Thank you for your support.

You said a bucketful here and then some and you are right about prejudice, it is alive and well in many directions. I can't believe they actually had the preference on a ballot paper in what is supposed to be a free country???? It puts a wedge between people and causes much trauma. What goes on in people's private lives is their own business I say and no one has the right to encourage what amounts to a police state existance. I know many homosexual people and it is never discussed one way or the other you either care about a person or not. The color of their skin, religion or sexual orientation is theirs and not to be judged.
Good rant Dale concerning a reality hot potato that unfortunately does't look like cooling in the near future.
Helen :-)
