Cloudy Sk(eye)ies Dampen Life

 

Everyday our vision is cloudy

to the fragility of life,

till in the blink of an eye

we are reminded

it only takes

a New York minute

for Mr. Reaper

to stake his claim.

Still we live as if

it will never end.

Time is the only thing

that lasts forever,

only universally.

Though death is not the end

it’s still a solo journey

leaving a void in the hearts

of loved ones

walking the mortal path.

It is also a means to an end

of making your mark

upon the world and humanity.

A lifetime is a star

in the midnight sky,

it’s up to you to shine

like the sun at high noon.

Whilst exploring earthly travels

breathe in the knowledge;

To try and fail is still success,

never trying is real failure…

hatred has no point,

love is never pointless.

There is too much hatred and some of it is born out of love...sounds strange I know, but it is true nonetheless. Life can change in a heartbeat, not just a hiccup change, but a huge change, stroke/heart attack...swift and deadly, we would do well to consider that when we next think of ways to demean or hatred makes a home in us...

The New York minute... is genius. It conveys a quick step just by connotation. Beautiful classical feel to the poem (capital L on like 7 lines from bottom?) I love the last two lines too - I think they could be joined with an 'and' because they are like an underlining of everything that went before - the yin and yang of everything.
