Heaven And Hell On Earth
A Poem by
The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
Looking
over the horizon
I
can see forever
Forming
in the ridges
Of
the mountain’s skyline,
It
is the antidote
To
the poison of city life.
Don’t
get me wrong,
This
concrete jungle is my home
But
I still need time
To
catch my breath.
How
can I speak
If I
can’t breathe?
How
can I be
If I
can’t speak?
The
trickle down theory
Is
rendered useless
When
the crimson flow
Needs
to be steady.
Without
the freedom of open veins
To
guide my way
I am
assured a one-way ticket
To
the four corners of hell.

One person's Hell
Is another haven
Fact
We seem to forget
In our rush through life.
Guess
I'm a city gal
At heart.
Willing to take
In small doses
The countryside
With it's dusty gravel roads.

Love this piece, the lines "It is the antidote...To the poison of city life." are great and so true. Sometimes you just need to get away from life, from the hustle and bustle. Nature and countryside brings peace and calmness to many of us, even those of us who do love the city for many reasons. Great emotion and yearning expressed here. Nice write!!

Oh I can sense the depth of this longing. Growing up near you there, the valley was so filled with smog, choking one down... a smog of metaphorical means as well. Your words strike such a cord for the beauty of life and of the natural world to refresh and renew us.

wow this is very powerful, yes the concrete jungle
life has many phases, to open yourself up and free yourself
fly away to a place of peace, it's lays clearly in your heart!!
very nice..

terrible it would be if we couldn't get away from city life and refill our senses.
Like a work week without a Week-End, HELL.
A great write my friend.

Ah, the need for liberty is one of the deepest ones in some of us, isn't it? One of my favorite places is "the middle of nowhere".
Love this one.
