Boy I feel a very familiar vibe with what your wrote.
I always say:
"I'll never follow the yellow, brick road".
I always feel the bristles stand up a bit taller on my back when I hear the word 'rules'
My other saying is:
I rather live one life as a lion, than ten lives as sheep".
I love what you wrote here:
"If you don’t follow the sign
it becomes a lie.”
To that I replied
“If I follow the words
then I’d be a lie.”
Oh yes! LOVE it! We can only aspire to break the rule in a peaceful manner...to venture into the unknown with an open heart...it is all we can do to gain knowledge!
A perfect poem love, a fav! xx
Wonderful, wonderful ending to such a wise, yet seemingly light-hearted poem, Dale. This is a rainbow to live by and with, my friend, and, it's glorious!
'.. .. a voice whispered ~ “If you don’t follow the sign ~ it becomes a lie.” ~ To that I replied ~ “If I follow the words ~ then I’d be a lie.”
In this wonderful rebellious action, I see the message to stand up for our beliefs, however the consequences. No-one has a right to dictate us to be someone we are not!
I truly like this write, it's a grand poem of vision and wisdom...
A leopard never changes his spots. Your words show the rebel in you will always look upon adversities as a glitch, where others would see things as defeat. It's the mark of a winner. I like it.

Dale,
Your words are most insightful, and the ending is superb! The rebel in you is alive and well....lol! I am so glad I just visited the Cafe to be able to enjoy this!! I like the way you exchange words with the voice!!
It's better to be dead and cool than alive and uncool
