Get Me Off This Monkey's Back

Get Me Off This Monkey's Back

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

What can I say?

"

Sometime I must question

the voices in my head;

wondering if it is my faith

or pain talking.

For they are twins

therefore they sound the same.

Tones…

I listen for answers

in the tone,

but wonder if it is not being distorted

by my peripheral vision.

Night…

So I look to the night

when my vision is limited,

but am I being deceived

by the fear of the relentless silence.

I feel like the monkey

is trying to get me

off its back.

For…

I hear no evil,

so I can’t answer the call.

I see no evil,

that way it doesn’t exist.

I speak no evil,

nor do I speak up against it.

The idea of "faith" and "pain" being twins is quite interesting. I liked this one, brought up a lot of thoughts and feelings in my own head. The last stanza is quite brilliant...there is so much between the lines. Nicely written.

People who are blind to the pain and the wrong of the world. Can end up in a bad place. I like the thoughts create by this poem. A excellent poem.

This is so true. The frequency within our heads is distorted and vague. How do we know what to think when the voice is hardly heard and can't be fully felt or understood. This is something that has always confused me. I have faith, but I simply don't know how to clarify it from my own thoughts. Well thought out poem.

lol, I'll blame it on the monkeys..and I thought maybe I just needed some medication or therapy. :P

This is a write wich is deeply phrased, by your lonely moments, in time, and in life, and maybe it wasn't even about you, but you wrote it for someone else, (I do not like to assume) it's beautifully done, and told. Such a not intelligent man in this poetry who returns to the primate usuals of a monkey (I actually don't believe in that to realize). I rather choose for the monkeys of the latest version of "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" clever smart, and speakable. As a formula turned the brain, into cleverness, Thank you Dale, with this I mean you're clever!

Its the flying monkeys that always give me the hardest time amigo great write
and they are hell indeed.
Voices in the head well thats a diffrent subject but most of mine dont speak english so really they seldom bother me .

All jokes aside rreally strong write as it connects straight off
really fast moving and to the point great work

Stay crazy Gonzo

Those three monkeys, blind, deaf, mute - do they guide us , carry us or what? We're human beings, we have flaws and juggle them, worry them, satisfy them yet never quite know what's really right or wrong. But are they as concerned when they sit on our shoulders, chipping away at our characters?
Must now try to understand why, how, you've placed pain and faith at each end of the emotional scale; your words nudge for understanding, but first i have to think about them.
Dale, you've done it again, made my grey matter tingle just before going to bed!
