Though my vein

Can feel the needle

The flesh is unaware

Of the blood it created.

As numbness

Overcomes the pain

Crimson drips undetected

Creating a red sea

In the crack of the pavement

Parted by man’s mortality.

Once it trickles

Into the gutter

The dirty water flows

Like the Nile

Filling a destiny.

When it baptizes the sewer

All the human waste

Becomes the sacred wine

Making the rats

The body of Christ.

Now the homeless

Can rejoice with a feast

Fit for a God.

I agree with the comments below...

It also reminds the reader that God did create all man as equals. In God's eyes....he cares not if you are rich or homeless. If your filth has not been baptized by the blood of the lamb...none of your works or good deeds on this earth matters...I probably risk hate mail over this statement, perhaps some will see me in a different light...but I don't care.

Either way one read it, it's an admixture of both I think. I think you nailed the purpose of Christ's sacrifice perfectly here.

Religious, and provoking... another one I love of yours, even if I am an atheist, and believe in science, this is wonderful, as I do read all. To balance.

Seems all the word's sins can be forgiven by guilt and ensuing penance perhaps? And, in being forgiven, can be shared as pure as pure amongst the needy multitudes by doing God's work?

This is one to decipher... Wow. There is so much depth. The blood started with a single being but you describe its path and how it affects those places it inevitably goes. The homeless and the feast, that is such a vision. I like the religious undertones you use to get across the point. Now which point that is, I'm still trying to figure out. That's what I like though, it's open to different interpretations.
