hmmmmm; voluntary certainly delivers the meaning of what you're conveying here ~ the willing submission to an illusion.

This poem can have multiple meanings. I take it as that a person in the Garden of Eden does not see devil in their garden. Adam and Eve were not content with what God had bestowed to them, there eyes were open, searching for something more, they saw the devil and were fooled into believing him. Even for a short poem these words are extremely powerful!
