A Sheep In Wolf's Clothing

A Sheep In Wolf's Clothing

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

A stone pulse

Is not rock hard evidence,

Just the foundation

For solid ideals.

Even a Dam allows a flow

When it is for

The greater good.

It is no secret that Superman

Has a weakness,

Just as all individuals

Have the same kryptonite,

It is called being human,

No exceptions…

No excuses…

No alibis…

Though a smile

Can be a thin disguise

The lines on your face

Are a dead giveaway

Of emotions never spoken.

So put a rumble in your grumble,

It only exposes the fault line

In our facade.

Your words are so profoundly moving... driving in deep to our psyche.. uncovering the fears, anxieties, and frail nature of our lives. May we learn how to live more transparently, even when we simply look into our reflection.

I love the depth of this and had to put up my favorite lines. Wonderful piece of writing

There's always just that one thing in your work that makes me wonder if you've peeked inside my diary lol.. Funny how true this is.. we think we are all that and a bag of chips with our disguise and yet in that set stone there is a breaking point where we are weak and in time we are fully exposed..xo

How long can the facade go on until we expose ourselves unknowingly? It is only a matter of time before our emotions will give us away.
~ "Though a smile
Can be a thin disguise
The lines on your face
Are a dead giveaway
Of emotions never spoken."~ Nicely done!...this is cleverly written.

This is a look at our temporary state of being. How miniscule our time on this earth is. No one is perfect; everyone has a weakness or two. I feel weird simply summarizing and providing no criticism... This is, if I may say, a piece I won't likely remember reading. It didn't kick me in the face or leave a real impression on me, perhaps because it was a bit cliche. I'm not trying to be rude; I am rather matter-of-fact when reviewing writing. I did like these lines, though: "Though a smile/ Can be a thin disguise/ The lines on your face/ Are a dead giveaway"

Many do keep what lies underneath hidden extremely well. I have often wondered if it is reflected in their eyes, their faces, etc.........well done.

All of us put up fronts to one degree or another. Many people do not take the time to look behind the smiles to see what is lurking underneath, what sadness may sit below the surface. Everyone has an issue they are dealing with... compassion is key.

I don't see the point of holding anything back, usually. Hmm... I wonder if that is why I don't have many wrinkles yet! :) Great points to ponder within a well written poem.

I love this. It is so true. You never know what someone is hiding beneath a smile. We all have pain. Some others can see and some others can't. I also loved the title too. I think it added to the words quite nicely.
