Unauthorized Requiem

Unauthorized Requiem

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Slowly she whispers my name,

the tone in her voice

is one from another life;

a life that manipulated time.

In the here and now

time plays this life

like a fiddle with a broken string.

Fear dictates that this voice

has come back with a purpose,

to taunt a mind

already haunted by the cries

of something waiting to exist.

Freedom has become the enemy

for I feel like a gypsy

captured by a Siren’s song,

Leaving me exhausted…

Too tired to dig my own grave

I lye on a bed of roses

to feel the comfort of the thorns

till I bleed beyond eternity.

This is really good. I find it interesting you find comfort in the sting of the thorns, for it reminds you of your siren and of her haunting love.
I particularly like this line:
" In the here and now
time plays this life
like a fiddle with a broken string."

The only true expression of love I have read at this site this past year.

Amazing. So many different ideals pulling at the speaker's weary mind. We have all felt this despondency if we have loved deeply, and this poem captures that. I especially love how you used the word "lye" towards the end instead of "lie", further promoting that feeling of lovely corrosion.

Very intense, passionate, yearnings and fears. A burning desire is in this, a need of fierce depth. Astounding write!

It sounds like the Succubus got to this man too. lol
Seriously...this was a wet dream with some serious headache...the comfort of thorns...ouch...I need a band-aid.

Too tired to dig my own grave...yup...I know that feeling. I feel it every Friday after a long a*s week of work. lol
