vito

A Poem by delapruch
"

see note for reviewers.

"

at age 13, on may 13th,

he sits quietly in his

7th

grade

classroom at

truman middle school

in

tacoma, washington.

he is a young & obviously very intelligent

young boy

with a conscious sense of the world

around

him

&

the empire in which he lives.

no doubt, he’s just hitting puberty

(deeper voice avec hairs popping up

all over him---stumbling awkwardly

through his day as he deals with the

feeling that his body is rebelling

against him),

and undergoing all the day to day

“pleasantries”

that come with being a

teenager

in

america.

suddenly,

a man comes through the door wearing a suit

&

sunglasses, withdrawing the boy from his class,

his teacher & his peers.

the man in the suit informs him that he is from the

secret service

& that he has some questions to ask

“mr.” vito lapinta,

because of a blog posting that he made on

facebook

soon after the empire finally snagged their

big

boogeyman

after 10 years.

the boy has

7

friends on facebook.

apparently, all 7 could be fully functional members of

al-qaeda---

yes, they most certainly are sleepers,

hanging around with their bud vito in that

“mid-

sized

urban

port

city---voted the 19th most walkable city in the country

as well as one of the most livable places” within

these here united states---

playing “call of duty” every second that they can get

free

from writing their final testimonies to allah & the organization,

formulating new ways to strap bombs to themselves,

&

picking out which one of their high school busses they were gonna

bomb---

as it made its way to washington

d.c.?

the truth is that this smart young lad

(whose political awareness is a bar above

most americans

twice & sadly, probably

three times his age)

was simply expressing his concern for

president obama

because he felt that because of what his administration had done,

that there would be retaliation

which might put him, as well as those around him,

in

harm’s

way.

so without the consent of vito’s mother,

the

ss,

with the help of the school he once felt safe in,

dragged him out of his class to

interrogate him & in doing so

terrify him

&

scar him for life.

the man in the suit with the sunglasses told vito that he was thought to be a threat to the

president.

let me repeat that (in case you were distracted by something and your eyes left the page for a moment)

the man in the suit with the sunglasses told vito that he was thought to be a threat to the

president.

orwell is turning in his grave &

big brother is watching you vito

big brother is watching you & all you little 7th grade terrorists out there.

&

let it be known

like the jailing of a college student in china for

25

years

without

parole

for writing an email against the government

(which, alas, was intercepted by the same government)---

let it be known

that you are an example

of what is now to come.

this is your tax dollars at work

unemployed america---

and if you are reading this,

don’t be surprised if you are

next.

(unless you are out of junior high...you might be safe if you have entered high school)
