The Absence of Ulterior MotiveA Poem by delapruchsee note for reviewers.gestures often referred to as acts of kindness, bring with them positive inferences & sometimes even long term connections which can be the most important in our lives, certainly--- however, when speaking of those moments when one acts out of nothing more than for lack of better terms--- “humanity,” or “what it is to be human,” maybe even something like “common decency” that is, without ulterior motive--- it can define us in ways that may only be felt days or months later--- like the aftershocks of an earthquake, but instead, purely positive--- not leaving the resonance of what some would label morally but simply more positive that such an occurrence happened rather than it being negative in happening, or for that matter, not happening at all.
if you know that there are actions that speak for themselves--- that there are moments when an unspoken assurance is made during the transition of facial expressions, or the nonverbal everyday mechanics perpetuating the systems which we for better or for worse presently operate within, then you understand the value of these instances whereby our very human similarities are articulated. © 2011 delapruchAuthor's Note
