70mph

70mph

A Poem by delapruch
"

closer with every fleeting moment.

"

at 70mph you can slam the car into most anything &

it will be the last time you do it---

you don’t need to putt putt putt along at any less a speed

or pound that lead foot down to push your vehicle to the

max,

no, 70mph will do you

good.

at 70mph like spacy in “american beauty” or cruise in

“jerry mcquire”

with the wind blowing in our hair & a scream in our

step.

half-way to 140mph

we increase & close our eyes

rip, roarin’ & ready to go into

what others may in fact call oblivion but you & i

consider

just another walk in the park---

a moment in which

with the stereo blaring &

the passing by of the elements outside the vehicle

we are one

with the good possibility of it all ending

closer to freedom than

ever before.
