to secure the homeland

to secure the homeland

A Poem by delapruch
"

“Everybody's worried about stopping terrorism. Well, there's a really easy way: stop participating in it.” -Noam Chomsky

"

fear of an attack on the anniversary of

9/11

has people in the US

twitching & scampering

with the hairs on the back of their necks sticking

straight up &

the government assures everyone

that it has the situation under control

that it is pursuing said suspects with that same quality veracity which

was spent looking for WMD’s that were never found &

bin laden

who took ten years & $4 trillion dollars to

wack.

still speaking with the fascist rhetoric that was so often used by

dubya,

mr. obama & co. speak of “securing the homeland,”

replacing the “motherland” concept of 1938

with the updated

21st century version,

but the sentiment still rings true---

stretch our borders as far as our reach can go

to preserve this sudetenland &

worry about what will follow

if & when anyone questions our actions.

rather than stopping the terrorism of other countries on this earth

for our own material gain,

the US insists on driving forward

ignoring every voice that ask it to do otherwise,

and we still have the audacity

to wonder why we aren’t

“secure.”

the “homeland” is this earth,

and it is here for all of us humans,

whether you like it or not---

and when the next big war comes,

there will be nothing left but the cockroaches & maybe some

neon-green rats

who, found immune to the radiation above ground,

now glow their way through the sewers &

abandoned subway tunnels.

if you want to save yourself,

apply for a job as a human butler to the cockroach-rat

empire to come,

early---

because that’s all that will be left.
