Hitch, 62

Hitch, 62

A Poem by delapruch
"

Christopher Eric Hitchens (13 April 1949 –15 December 2011) READ HIS BOOKS. WATCH HIS LECTURES & DEBATES. PASS THEM ON!

"

not much can be said that he didn’t say

concerning the passion that he shouted without a moment of

rest

at the forces in this world that he saw to be wrong,

as well as the idiots who claimed to know what was

right---

to see him argue was to reignite within oneself the

love for human conversation &

to see how ideas can be made to be expressed

without the need of bludgeoning another over the head

with a hammer---

that is not to say that he didn’t see fit for the use of force

to stomp out the “evil”

for which even he as a prolific writer, journalist &

staunch militant anti-theist

who had seen aspects of carnage the world over

could find no other way of expressing

except to use that word.

for hitch we have to not stumble a moment

we have to pay tribute by reading his works,

passing them onto others &

continuing the fight

which he fought so well

unparalleled in the ring---

swinging & swinging &

swinging with no

deathbed conversion

without compromise

without any loss of integrity

his defeat took many many rounds

but eventually he was beat

by that one opponent that inevitably wins

no matter who you are

or what you believe.

WE ARE LUCKY TO HAVE EXPERIENCED SUCH A VOICE!
