this Christmas I want to sit beside you

watching the fire

and thinking

 

have your head on my shoulder

and watch the twinkling

lights

 

watch the world pass, oblivious

to the reason

for the season

 

listen to children tear open presents

wrapped in colorful paper

and topped with bows

 

watch your smile light up

the world

and shine

 

write in a journal

a new poem

about you
