The Last Poem

This is the last poem I'll ever write
on my service to the corps
Sorry if you think I'm a total a*****e
But I can't do it anymore

I've got my reasons and rationals
No need to ask me why
It's just a decision I had to make
So kiss that part goodbye

I'm a US Marine Corps Veteran
and it's memorial day
A past I'm keeping to myself
So I got nothing to say

maybe it is best to go with your gut for now and do what is right for your well being and peace of mind. i support you regardless of what you write, but i think that you know this. you have many genres of writing and many different styles at your disposal, being a many faceted writer with a gift for the written word...therefore, i see much possibility in your future for different and possibly new and exciting venues. this is a great piece in itself, but i think you were going for a statement more than a clever poem. still, well done, my friend.

well , i can say no one thinks your an a*****e its your prerogative to choose when you want to let a part of you go . i believe this was more of a purge of your soul than a poem but it very much gives that realistic feel , i respect this write :)

Doing what is good for you doesn't really mean you're an a*****e. It only means that you need a break. Who knows? You might just be on your way to exploding. That isn't good. Take a break. Grab a beer. Listen to your heart, to your mind, to what you've grown to know and understand. Do what's best for you. You've done enough for your country by serving and protecting it--go ahead and relax for the better. Rest or something. Your comrades, your superiors--all those others who have died before you, and those who will after you... they'll understand.

I may not be a part of the military, but my father is. And it's hard, being the daughter of someone who risks his life for his country.
