Helping the homeless actually helps in more ways than most common people can imagine. Homeless people cost society tons, and in reality it would actually just be cheaper to buy them one of the vacant houses rather than repeatedly sheltering them and providing legal help and eye ( source: http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/Housing+homeless+better+cheaper+than+relying+shelters+study+finds/9079965/story.html ) but that kind of thinking is "illogical and absurd!" despite it actually working . . . Just a thought for the more rational thinkers against altruism.

There are so many that need help. The homeless population grows everyday....and it is the children that just breaks my heart. But you are right, people do care. I truly believe that. Someday we will find the answer and until then, helping one person at a time makes a difference. You have a kind heart BR.

When my unit was deployed to Afghanistan never in my life had I ever seen poverty like that. Little kids trying to trade their prosthetic limbs (Lots of land mines in Afghanistan) to us for our MREs. If experiences like that don't break your heart you don't have one.
