Long time conservative shock jock and liberal bogey man Rush Limbaugh had a knack for making controversy work for him, that is until February 2012 when his tirade against civil rights activist Sandra Fluke lost his time slot millions of dollars from sponsors that suddenly needed distance from Rush's gigantic wing nut mouth. Ms Flukes had testified to a congressional committee on the importance of contraception being available for all women, especially women who couldn't afford it themselves. In a three day long tirade on his radio show Rush fired at MS flukes referring to her as a "whore" and "prostitute" suggesting that she should make a sex tape so he could see it. Rush never truly apologized for his defamation of Ms Flukes and the incident served to galvanize his enemies to the point where it's been difficult for his show to attract good sponsors. Rush is notorious for sexist, as well as racist comments so it came as no surprise his big mouth finally caught up with him. Like most conservatives Rush's social, political views are painfully narrow, so much so you could fit them all on an Ipad. To me he's Ann Coulter lite (she's really out there but she's more tongue in cheek than Rush is. Her long time friendship with Bill Mahar should tell you something)
For years Rush was just about about the only conservative voice in the media now he's become something of a liability to the Republican party who desperately need to expand their tent as their greatest generation block of voters die off. To me Rush is a wing nut shock jock. His ability to manipulate the public with misinformation pales compared to the major media outlets such as FOX or CNN. When some clown with a radio show talks shit that's free speech. When a major "news" outlet does it, it's propaganda. HUGE DIFFERENCE.

I listened to him a couple of times but turned him off. I listen to Savage once in a while but I rarely listen to any radio talk host anymore. I guess with all the crap I see and hear I've become jaded and don't trust anyone. Good one Ric.

His show was popular with a lot of the guys in my platoon so I heard him quite a bit by default in those days. He seems pretty well marginalized now.
