On Open Carry

second amendment lunacy that's going to get advocates killed

"
Okay so which guy shot 5 police officers killing three of them in the Canadian town of Moncton yesterday and which guy is suffering from a Rambo complex? If you were on the ground and heard the shooting report on the radio and saw both of these guys within three city blocks of each other what would you do? Back when me and all my friends carried open weapons you know what we did when we saw civilians carrying weapons? We f*****g shot them. Okay, I'll admit to extenuating circumstances with regards to what in the hell we were doing in Iraq to begin with but that's not the point kids. I've seen some seriously fucked up s**t happen with weapons because the persons wielding them were "Jittery." Sooner or later these open carry dip s***s are going to start getting shot by "jittery" police and scared private citizens. Try arguing second amendment rights with a bullet lodged in your cranium. It's kind of hard to do. All these guys insisting on carrying weapons in plain view, sure, it's their legal right in some states and no it's not going to make a hell of a lot of difference in violent crime (Anyone who thinks it'll decrease violent crime needs to put the crack pipe down and get f*****g real. The vast majority of shooting deaths in America are accidental) but hey, why in the hell does anyone need to carry a weapon in America? Maybe in the hood and guess how long you'd last shouldering a weapon on MLK BLVD before the cops were beating your a*s with night sticks because you're a moron. A high powered rifle isn't a Goddamn toy or fashion accessory. It's a machine designed to kill, period. A true, responsible gun owner knows this and wouldn't stroll through the local shopping mall with an AR-15 strapped to his back. Mark my words kids, I've been to this rodeo before and it's going to end very badly for someone.

Guns don't kill, people do. Those who are not of sound mind should never own a fire arm.no matter the constitution says. America has a big problem with the " Rambo" syndrome.

Yes we do. Thanks for stopping by Will.
I've seen a number of photos of these morons in Chile's and in Target. Since when do you need a gun to eat dinner or shop? It's getting way out of hand and I agree a jittery public with make for some jittery 2nd amendment nuts. Personally I don't think our forefathers created the second amendment so these guys can act like it's the old west with automatic weapons. I believe they were afraid of a government- which had once been a foreign kingdom- keeping them defenseless. This of course was before we created an infrastructure of police and the military to protect the general public-that didn't exist then but it does now. I don't care what anyone says, guns do kill people because we allow them to be wielded by idiots who act as if they are some kid's plastic toy. A gun in a locked cabinet doesn't kill people but a gun in the hands of the mentally ill and the just plain stupid certainly do, and as you state how can you tell which one is going to open fire. I swear it's harder to get a job than it is to get a gun and that just seems upside down to me. As always you are right on target.

That's for sure.
It certainly is a topic of discussion and I find myself aligning against the civilian ownership of military-grade rifles, or anything full-auto. Allowing civilians to own such powerful killing machines is a mistake and, although it can be argued that they could be utilized to curb crime, it still must be considered that a wannabe-vigilante confronting a maniac armed with a (legal) weapon in the streets of a city could easily turn into a bloodbath with collateral damage, not to mention the initial confusion that the cops would feel upon arriving at such a tense scene.

If anything, guns should be made illegal in the name of public safety or at least illegal to be used on public property while hunting firearms stay legal, because you just can't satisfy some traditional people who refuse to give up their lifestyles.

Damn, Mark - again, you articulate the exact conversations that we have in my house. I live in fear of my own idiot cousin who is, just as you say, suffering from a Rambo complex. He wears fatigues (never in any branch of the military) and professes his "right" to open carry, and rails against anyone who does not. I do my best to ignore his fb posts, but there are so many - he rants about guns and the government all day. I wish he could read this - though if he did, he just would not get it...

Your cousin sounds like a regular ammosexual. I served with lots of them.
If people are going to kill, that's what they're going to do. Take away the guns, and they'll use knives (you know about those insane 12 year old girls). Take away their knives and they'll use rocks.Take away the rocks, and they'll use their teeth.

If people are going to kill, that's what they're going to do.

Maybe so but high powered rifles make killing a hell of a lot more convenient.

Dude, you are so blunt and honest. I just love it. You make a point by speaking the truth no matter what you have to say, it will be heard.

Well, you know my Canadianness is going to love this one anyway. This is so frustrating to me, the argument that carrying weapons will somehow make people safer. I can tell you one thing. We can't stop a******s from illegally picking up arms and killing people, but we can save a good person from making a bad mistake by not making it so easy to think of picking up a gun. If I don't have a gun on my hip, I may not shoot my husband and his lover when I find them in bed together, I may just storm out and take him for everything he is worth in court. Not having easy access to firearms, and a culture that supports that, allows some time for thought before taking action. As always, your opinions are clear, to the point, and, at least in my assessment, right on the money.
