I'm honestly not expert enough to properly understand, but I sort of thought that all aircraft had individual identification methods, plus of course, the fact that the plane was flying above 32000 feet at a fairly sedate pace ought to have been some kind of clue. Like you say though, the fog of war is pea soup thick.

The worst thing, is that if whoever shot down that plane had any kind of military training, (which seems very likely,) is is inconceivable in this day and age of electronic wizardry, that Malaysia flight 17, could have been mistaken for anything other than what it was.

So much for mankind.

Screwups in combat are common nor is this the first time a commercial airliner's been accidently shot down..The US navy shot an Iranian airliner down in 1988.The Chinese shot one down and so did the Russians back in the cold war days. The fog of war is pea soup thick.

The accident was very heartbreaking. Those innocent lives. Dreams that are unfulfilled. Words that remained unspoken. I really liked the simplicity you put in this writing. It touched my heart. Great work.
