Who Are YouA Poem by Emily
Who are you?
On the surface, you're so average Nothing out of the ordinary But when I pierce the outer edge I find a different view Your anger is a jack-in-the-box Throwing insults when you pop It's a party Can't you see the chain reaction? What hits someone I love Still sinks into me Its claws pulverize my heart You cause physical pain I accept it That's just who you are You think you can control every detail Have us dancing on your strings We are not two-dimensional puppets All the while you spew Your dirtiest convictions But I'll still accept you You are my kin My superior I am forced by an unwritten rule So as long as I live enveloped in your cloud I will accept who you are And ask you this question: Who are you, to me? © 2014 Emily |
